“He was there again, Julie,” Number Twenty-seven whispered as she struggled into her shirt for the day, “in my dreams.”
 
“Scattered papers covered the metal-tiled floor in the surveillance room. All the file cabinet drawers were opened.”
 
“Malcolm awoke no closer to a solution or to knowing what in the hell Julie was talking about.”
 
“We have four days to inject the girl.”
 
“Malcolm didn’t look up when Julie walked in.”
 
“Malcolm paced near Julie’s lifeless body, fighting the urge to sweep her up and take her to the doctor.”
